How it all began...
While on a road trip in the summer of
2010, sisters Kim and Pam Ladd
hatched a fun and crazy notion to write
a book. What began as a cocktail
recipe book swiftly morphed into
Happy Hour in the High Peaks:
An Adirondack Bar Guide. In 2011
and 2012, they visited over 120 bars
in the Adirondacks, took notes, and
interviewed patrons, staff, and owners.
The 160-page, full color, hardcover
book contains reviews of their favorite
46 bars, which they call the High Peaks,
and a listing of 46 more bars called
Trailheads. The book also includes 46
Adirondack-themed drink recipes and
Hoping to share their experience, they
also offer a Happy Hour Trail Passport.
With a visa page and discount coupon
for each High Peak, they encourage
Adirondack Park guests and residents
to visit all 46 High Peak bars and
become Happy Hour 46ers.
